The Internet, known as ARPANET, was brought online in 1969. The Internet was designed to provide communication between networks. The early Internet was used by computer experts, engineers, scientists, and librarians. There was nothing friendly about it. There were no home or office personal computers in those days, and anyone who used it, whether a computer professional or an engineer or scientist or librarian, had to learn to use a very complex system.
Many people think e-mail and World Wide Web as the principle constituents of internet, but there is lot more than e-mail, chat rooms, celebrity web sites and search engines. It also became the best business tool of modern scenario. Today internet has brought the globe in a single room. When Internet came into existence, there were less than 10 websites. Disclosing The First Lottery Whopper
Accepting a lie is easier for some people than searching for the truth. We see examples of this everywhere we turn. But, when it comes to my favorite topic, the lotto, I’ve had enough. Exasperated with all of the lottery lies perpetrated by clueless lotto critics, I’ve decided to refute the more flagrant examples in a series of articles.
Lottery Whopper #1 – There is nothing you can do to increase your chances of winning the lottery jackpot.
Occasionally, I’ve made the mistake of trying to reason with such lottery critics. I’ve plied them with irrefutable logic, and example after example about the lottery that proves that their position is untenable. All to no avail. Only a reasonable person, someone with an open mind and willing to engage in an intellectual discussion, can ever be persuaded of anything. So, if you’re reading this, I’m probably preaching to the choir. Therefore, if you will all turn to one of my favorite pages in the Hymnal, ‘You can increase your chances of winning the lottery jackpot.’
The first Lottery Myth is naive and easy to refute. First, the lottery is a game of chance. In all games of chance, the player has certain chances of winning. Up to this point, even the critics agree. But, here’s where I typically lose them.
Blackjack
In all games of chance, including the lottery, there are different levels of play. Some people are very good, some people are very poor, and the rest of us fall somewhere in between. For example, it was only a short time ago, that people believed that success at the Blackjack table was pure luck. After all, it was a Random Game of chance, just like the lottery. And yet, professional gamblers seemed to do quite well.
This idea that it was a random game of chance, was fostered by the casinos because it helped their bottom line. At the same time, professional gamblers quietly went about their business. However, some MIT students stumbled upon the keys to the castle and raked in lots of money at the casinos. You’ve probably heard the story or saw the movie 21.
Just like the lottery, if you play Blackjack intelligently, you can increase your chances of winning. In Blackjack, if you study the past history by counting cards and apply a basic understanding of probability, the advantage swings from the house to the player. Once people learned about this, almost overnight, courses were being offered and books were being sold. People had discovered that there was a lot they could do to increase their chances of winning; just like the lottery.
Texas Holdem
Another example is Texas Holdem, which has become a worldwide phenomenon. After Doyle Brunson published his Super/System book, the truth was out. If you play the game intelligently, study the past performance of each opponent and apply a basic understanding of probability you will increase your chances of winning.
Now, there are many more books, courses, tapes, CDs and even training camps. Once people realized that success was determined by how they played the game, people all over the world were flopping, turning and rolling down the river.
State Lotteries
Just like the casinos did with Black Jack, the state lotteries have fostered and perpetuated this Lottery Myth; that there is nothing you can do to increase your chances of winning the lottery jackpot. But, the lottery is a game of chance, just like any other. Therefore, the same logic applies.
Play intelligently
Study the lottery’s history
Apply a basic understanding of probability
Use a computer with the best lottery software
Computers have been used to unravel the mysteries of many Random Games of Chance; like Black Jack, Poker and Stock investing, just to name a few. But, lotteries are the most difficult games of chance ever devised. So, trying to improve your lottery play without a computer is probably an exercise in futility.
So, if you are interested in being a Serious Lottery Player, you are going to need a computer armed with the Best Lottery Software available. Lotto software that can provide what you need when you ask for it; like having your very own genie. Well, today’s genie isn’t in a bottle; she’s on your computer.
Good luck and I hope you Win the Big One!
Why use Wireless Network for your Computer Rental Business?
[I:1:J]People who are into computer rental business now prefer to use wireless networks in linking their units. This is because wireless networks offer more convenience and practicality especially if your clients are those who will be perpetually linked into the cyberspace.
Having an efficient wireless network is crucial for a computer rental business because this will somehow ensure that you will be giving good service to your clients. If you have a computer business and you’re having problems with you your network, this is the best time to think of ways on how to extend the range and the strength of it through a wireless network.
Improving the network
Windows XP is the commonly used in most computer rentals these days. This is ideal because wireless networks work best with this operating system. But having an XP is not enough, you need other “tools” to help you improve the network available. Microsoft Windows XP would notify you often that you might be having a weak signal. This means that probably, your connection is not really as fast or as reliable as it may seem.
Knowing that you have a weak signal is ideal so you can still do something about it. What is worse is that, your clients will get mad at you for having a weak and slow Internet connection. If having a weak signal is your major problem in your computer rental shop, here are some tips that can help you improve you’re the wireless network signal and the overall network performance as well:
1. Try to position the wireless access point or wireless router in a central location of your shop. If you are after the superior performance, place the router at the center of the shop. When your wireless router is placed against the wall, there are greater chances that the signal will be weak on the other side. If ever it’s hard to move your wireless router, you can do move the router off the floor to veer it away from walls and objects that have metal on them. Remember that wall, metals, and floors can obstruct the router’s wireless signals.
To get a better hold of the signal, take away the router from these for they may cause severe interference and will weaken your signal. Another way to reduce wireless interference is to remove cordless phones and other wireless electronics away from computer. If it’s inevitable, you should choose cordless phones or wireless electronics that use 5.8GHz or 900MHz frequencies instead of 2.4GHz frequency.
2. Check your wireless router. In case you’re done with all the relocations and you still have problems with your signal, then, maybe the location is not really the problem. For all we know, the router is not functioning well. Try replacing your router’s antenna or upgrade it. While upgrading, make sure you get a hi-gain antenna that focuses the wireless signals to a single direction. Although the antennas that supplied with your router are designed to be omni-directional, you can aim the signal in one direction where you need it the most.
3. Change your wireless channel. Like radio and television, wireless routers also broadcast on different channels. To improve the connection in the computer rental shop, try changing the channel by browsing through your router’s configuration page to see if your signal strength improves. There is actually no need for you to change your computer’s configuration because it will automatically detect the new channel.
Follow Up With Your Clients
A follow-up tool such as a post card, HTML newsletter, or note card is essential to make sure that your services stay “top-of-mind” with the people that you meet. It’s said that a prospect needs to hear from you seven times before they will make a purchase. So it’s important to create tools and a system to enable you to followup with your prospects once you’ve made that initial connection.
Steps to planning your follow-up method and system:
1. Determine how your customers prefer to receive information from you. Communicating with them in the method of their choice makes them more receptive to your messages and more likely to buy from you. Consider whether your ideal clients are “computer people” or whether they’d be more likely to respond to postal mail.
2. Then, consider which media you’re most comfortable using to follow up. Do you have the technical skills to produce an HTML newsletter or the budget to hire a specialist? And do you have the time to create articles about your area of expertise? Do you have the time to apply addresses and postage to post cards? Or do you prefer giving the personalized touch of a note card, and can you keep up with the time commitment of following up in that way? Knowing your level of comfort and commitment, and understanding the time required, will ensure that you can keep up with your follow-up program.
3. If the previous two considerations are in conflict, find a way to make them congruous. For example, if you have the skills to produce an HTML newsletter and your clients are “computer people”, but you don’t have the time to write articles, you can explore online article banks that offer free articles for you to include in your newsletter, such as the one at ideamarketers.com. If you don’t have time to address and apply postage to post cards, find a high school student who will do it for you at a reasonable rate. Be creative!
4. Once you’ve determined the method of communication to use for your follow-up piece, create a plan for how often you will followup. For example, if you’re doing a post card or handwritten note, quarterly contacts might be enough. If you’re using an online newsletter, monthly or bimonthly issues are probably best to really capture a client’s attention-your clients probably get a lot of email, and it takes regular contact to stand out from the crowd.
5. Creating your follow-up tools. Finally, once you have planned your follow-up system, it’s time to move on to the design and content of your tool: the postcard, newsletter, or note card.
Be sure that your follow-up tool:
- Looks professional and uses elements of your Visual Vocabulary, to reinforce your brand identity.
- Contains content that is both valuable and accessible to your audience. Be sure to give good, quality information in your newsletter or post card, so that people will look forward to receiving it. And write the newsletter with language on your prospect’s level-don’t use technical jargon if you can avoid it, and if you can’t, define the technical terms so that your audience can stay “on the same page” with you.
- Includes a call to action on non-personalized items like the post card and newsletter, and/or an offer such as a discount or special article. These can also be helpful in handwritten follow-up-giving the people that you’re contacting a reason to get back in touch with you.
- Has some personalized information. A handwritten note card is personalized by default. If you’re using a post card or newsletter as your follow-up tool, you can personalize it by using stories from your life, news on your hobbies, or updates on what you’re doing, to make your newsletter more endearing to your potential clients.
- Offers your potential clients a way to get on and off of your mailing list easily-you don’t want to be sending mail or email that’s unwanted.
- Is sent out regularly. In addition to letting prospects know when to expect the follow-up, following-up regularly will also show that you do things professionally and in a timely manner.
